Coat of Arms.......

A little while ago Immanuel took some interest....i forget why.....in knights and all that good stuff and somehow we got into a discussion about family crests and coat of arms etc.  So we quickly did a Google search and came up with a few things, but most searches came up with the info i have copied below.  Anyhow, Immanuel was excited and i think even remarked that he knew he was born of knight blood and this somehow made it official.  ;-)

A day or so later it was Family Home Evening and Immanuel was in charge of coming up with the family activity.  He decided that we would all make our own family coat of arms with pastels ( a new medium he has been working with for his art projects).  I think it turned out quick well and everyone had a fun time being creative and using the pastels, which i will add are ridiculously messy to use with small children.  ;-)

Here is one Morgan website i liked as it gave some pretty cool history "facts" about the family name.  And here is some more info that was copied from a website explaining the interpretation of the coat of arms and what they symbolize.

"The Morgan name is Celtic in origin, arising from the ancient Briton of Wales.  It comes from the Old Welsh personal name Morcant, composed of the Welsh elements, "mor" meaning sea and "cant" meaning circle."

"There are literally hundreds of different symbols (or charges) that can appear on coats of arms. The colors that are chosen and even the shape of the shield itself can have significance for the Family, Clan or Sept that was to bear the arms.
The explanations below are offered as the general interpretation of what this symbolism signifies. It is true though, that an individual coat of arms may have a history to it that far exceeds the meanings given here and that further investigation may be necessary."

Color: Or (Gold)goldMeaning: Generosity
Beast: GriffingriffinMeaning: Valiant soldier - to the death, Vigilance. In Ireland the worship of the sun in pre-Christian times was often represented by the Griffin. It later became a symbol of gold - 'yellow light'.
Symbol: HelmethelmetMeaning: Wise defence
